Many may wonder why I am called the Sensual Stylist.... I am going to tell you why now.
To me Sensuality is the truest connection to ourselves and our most delicious essence. Our sensuality is the delicate nuanced life force that simmers just beneath the surface of all women (for some it is a little further down than others but, it is there). Our sensuality if activated is really what awakens and enlivens us, it is the subtle whisper that awakens us and the soft purr that calls us to be present within our bodies in each moment. Without engaging with our sensuality, we can tend to feel numb and a little empty.
When most women dress each morning, they mostly tend to grab an outfit that (is hopefully clean and fits) is first to hand, incredibly easy without much or any thought having to go towards it and, most often than not, helps them to go about their business, feels comfortable and, helps them fit into the general 'uniform' of the surrounding area.
But, a uniform can never activate your personal sense of sensuality. A uniform very rarely makes the wearer (or observers) smile. It doesn't tend to open up fabulous conversations and it doesn't say anything about your unique personality. A uniform very rarely turns you on as a woman and it does not involve all of those little elements that if you put some thought towards and allowed yourself to indulge in, would bring you huge amounts of personal pleasure.
And this is what sensual style is. It is dressing yourself each and every day to activate your own pleasure. It is about owning and wearing clothes that make you feel alive. Accessories, scent and beauty that engages and titillates as many of the senses as possible (yes, there are ways of doing this).
Those that have known me for a while know that I indulge my passion for turbans, bangles, high heels and beautiful dresses every day no matter what the occasion, this is my Sensual Uniform if you like. I do this to enliven my self and my senses throughout the day.... another puff of perfume early afternoon to revive the flagging energy, a swipe of red lipstick to brighten a tired face when I have been awake in my insomniac state since 4am.
If you feel most comfortable stepping in to a uniform, then make it the most glorious experience for yourself. I recently posted my re-jigged version of that famous William Morris quote, mine being "Have nothing in your wardrobe that you do not believe to be beautiful!" If you don't work for a corporation that enforces a strict dress code or inflicts some ghastly concoction of their own devising so that you look the same as every one else, then your uniform can really be your own creation (creativity being the key point here). Most women do not have to wear the same as everyone else thank god.
Begin to think of yourself as your own boss, she who dictates how you feel about yourself, how you feel in your clothes, how you are seen by others and how much joy you can experience in your clothes throughout the day.
Our unique sense of Sensuality is entirely our own and how we express it is entirely up to us. We have the autonomy and the ability to turn ourselves on to ourselves and, on to life!
And, I have a strong feeling that if you start building your own Sensual Uniform now, your life is going to become quite the party every day. And, isn't that what we all want?
Till next time, wishing you love, beauty and much pleasure.
Laura
